What are the risk factors for developing oligohydramnios
Uteroplacental insufficiency,
Drugs
Fetal abnormalities
Ruptured membranes
When does oligohydramnios usually present
2nd - 3rd trimester
How does oligohydramnios present
Sense of decreased fetal movement from mother
Provider may notice that uterine size may be less than expected based on gestational age
What are the various diagnostic criteria for oligohydramnios
By U/S
Amniotic fluid volume (AFV) of 200 or less - 500 ml
A deepest vertical pocket (DVP) of 2 cm or less
Amniotic fluid index (AFI) of 5cm or less
What are the components of a management plan for clients with oligohydramnios
Screening
Detection
Collaborative management
Referral
When and how does WHNP involve other members of the health care team for a client with oligohydramnios
Normal amniotic fluid result
Single deepest pocket vertical depth of 2.1-8cm
Amniotic fluid index of 5-25 cm
Fetal causes of Oligohydramnios

Elevated maternal serum alpha fetoprotein (AFP)
Post term pregnancy
Severe fetal growth restriction
Maternal cause of oligohydramnios
