Explain stability template model
- assures that individuals do not change once they achieve adulthood
- Explains that if an individual is stable over time, s/he will respond to events and stresses in life in a consistent manner
Explain elderly change model
-Explains that an individual’s identity is formed earlier in life but changes through interaction with the environment in the present
Explain theory of random change
- Explains that fate or non-normative events cause change in identity because of how individuals adapt to their new roles
- Suggests that although behaviour of individuals within generations conform to a pattern, it is not possible to predict behaviours of future generation
Explain social construction theory
-Suggests that actions and feelings of individuals have no intrusive meaning on their own, but also given a meaning by theoretical perspectives that are developed
Explain psychological clock and how it might affect one’s life
- Determines the meaning that individuals make of their own lives
- Individuals choose the path of their lives in each season and lives with consequences
- Fall is the season in which individuals mature and the benefits are provided for the winter
