What are the indications for Olanzapine?
●Aged 12 and over with acute behavioural disturbance causing mild-moderate risk to safety when they will take an oral medication.
What are the contraindications of Olanzapine?
●Known severe allergy.
●Poisoning with an antipsychotic such as Quetiapine, Resperidone, or Olanzapine.
What are the cautions for Olanzapine? (3)
●Pregnancy.
●Intoxication, will increase/prolong effects.
●75 or greater particularly if frail, increases/prolongs effects.
What are the adverse effects for Olanzapine?
Sedation.
What is the dose for Olanzapine?
10mg per oral.
Reduce to 5mg if caution is present.
Can be repeated once only after 20 minutes.
