You are a graveyard shift sergeant when you monitor a radio request for back up from one of your officers. A foot pursuit heading in your direction, toward your area office. As you exit the office you hear shots fired and simultaneously hear your officer broadcast 11–99. Before arriving to the scene, the officer advises, over the radio, everything is code – 4, one suspect has been shot and one is outstanding. What are you going to do?

You’re the afternoon Sergeant on patrol on one of your units at buys his dispatch is a pursuit. Dispatch reveals the pursuit vehicle is stolen. A few minutes later the pursuit has transitioned to local city streets, you hear the unit broadcast: “I’m in the pursuit, 11-99, shots fired, suspect down”. you arrive on scene approximately one minute later and observe your officers are providing first aid to the seriously wounded suspect. As you approach the officer, you make a quick mental note that you don’t see a weapon anywhere around the suspect. What action do you take?
