section 1 prevention of crime act 1953
possession in a public place
any person without lawful authority has with them in any public place any offensive weapon shall be guilty of an either or offence
summarily: 6 months
indictment: 4 years
offence weapons fall into three categories:
made for causing injury
adapted for causing injury
intended by the person who has them for causing injury
