Occupational and personal saftey Flashcards
What is ORM? Explain
Operational Risk Management: increase our ability to make informed decisions and minimize risks
What are the 5 steps of the ORM Process?
- Identify Hazards
- Implement Controls
- Assess Hazards
- Supervise
- Make Risk Decisions
What are the 4 principles of Operational Risk Management (ORM)
- Accept risks when benefits outweigh costs.
- Anticipate and manage risk by planning.
- Accept no unnecessary risk.
- Make risk decisions at the right level.
What are the 3 levels of ORM?
- In-depth – 2. Deliberate – 3. Time critical.
What are the 4 classes of mishaps? Explain.
Class A
$2,000,000 or more and/or aircraft destroyed.
Class B
$500,000 or more but less than $2,000,000. Partial disability. 3 or more hospitalize.
Class C
$50,000 or more but less than $500,000. Non-Fatal. W/Loss of time.
Class D
$25,000 or more but less than $50,000
What is PPE and what is it for? Give examples
Personal Protective Equipment (face-shields, gloves, glasses and goggles, gowns, head covers, masks,
respirators, or shoe covers)
Discuss how the following contribute to aviation mishaps:
Human error
Physical capability & emotional capacity.
b. Maintenance and support factors
Poor maintenance & quality assurance.
Administrative and supervisory factors
Improper level of supervising. Failure to require personnel to meet standards
Material failures or malfunctions
Faulty design, defective manufacturing or repair.
environmental factors
Exposure to harsh temperatures and atmospheric conditions.
Discuss the goal of Hearing Conservation Program and when personnel are required to be
enrolled.
Goal is to prevent occupational hearing loss and ensure auditory fitness. Personnel are required to be enrolled
when they are actively exposed to hazardous noise levels.
State the purpose of a HAZREP.
Submitted when the elimination and control of a given hazard has an implication in reducing mishaps.
