What are you looking for when palpating lymph nodes?
- Symmetry
- Soft non-tender
- Small
- Freely moving
Describe how you would palpate the nodes
“rolling movement”
Find pain upon palpation?
Not cancer - as usually painless.
Tenderness = inflammation (potentially bacterial infection etc.).
What is the order of nodes you should palpate?
Submental, submandibular, preauricular, tonsilar, posterior cervical, anterior cervical, supraclavicular.
