childbirth, constipation, violent coughing, heavy lifting, pelvic muscle strain
What symptoms are seen with a cystocele?
urinary dysfunction (urgency, frequency, incomplete voiding, urinary retention, urinary incontience)
Herniation into the anterior vagina?
Cystocele
Herniation into the posterior distal vagina?
Rectocele
How is a cystocele diagnosed?
voiding cystourethrogram, urodynamic studies
What is the treatment for a cystocele?
Kegel exercises, pelvic floor retraining, pessary, surgical repair w/ mesh, Estrogen therapy after menopause
What surgical repair is used for correcting a cystocele?
anterior repair
