What are you checking on examination?
A
Inspection - signs of pregnancy - gravid abdomen, linea nigra, striae, fetal movement, scars.
Palpation - Fetal lie, fetal size, liquor volume, presenting part, engagement
Measurement - symphysio-fundal height, blood pressure, urine dip.
Ausculation - fetal heartbeat.

What blood tests are done at booking?
A
FBC, Antibody screen (inc Rh status), glucose tolerance, syphylis serology, Rubella immunity, HIV, Hep B, Hb electrophoresis, chromosomal abnormality screen.
