What are the types of observation?
A
Naturalistic, controlled, covert, overt, participant and non participant, structured and unstructured

What is naturalisic observation?
A
Investigator observes natuarlly occuring behaviour and does not attempt to influence the observed behaviour in any way.

What is structured onservation?
A
prior to the investigation the reasearcher devises a standardised checklist/ data collection grid to record the frequency of specific behaviours that occur.

What is non participant observation?
A
the observer observes from a distance or from outside the group/ situation. the observer does not interact with those being observed.
