Strategy is the action taken to ain competitive advantage
What is structure?
Division and integration of organizational units
What is Systems?
formal and informal processes of an organization
What are super-ordinate goals?
mission + vision (guiding concepts)
What is the staff?
selection, training, and socialization to the organization. Competencies are they relate to an organization
What is style?
the way the top management comes across?
What is skills?
company’s crucial attributes
What are the Hard S and what is their nature of them?
Strategy, Structure and Systems. They are easy to manipulate
What are soft S?
Style, Skills, and Staff
intangible and meaningful
What is organizational culture?
Is a way of doing, thinking, feeling, and believing things that have worked in the past and are now embedded in the current organizational belief, values, processes, etc.
What are the three levels of culture?
Artifacts (things you can see): physical signs of culture
Values: what people believe the organization stands for –> ideologies
Assumptions: underlying meanings, hard to see
What happens to firms with stronger cultures?

- High conformity
- Great impact on performance (reliable performance)
Cons
- Can create subcultures that work against the company
- If the environment changes can drastically reduce performance

High Risk + Quick Feedback (Sports, Management Consulting
Based on speed and not endurance
What is Process culture?
Focus on how you do it not what you do
Slow feedback + Low risk

High risk + slow feedback –> invest in the future

What is social ability?
The firm maintaining connection with employees beyond their work, strong relationships, getting along, favouring one another, confiding in one another

Sharing the same business objectives, productivity addresses poor performance, and the collective will is to win high, competitive advantage to move quickly and capitalize on opportunity, sharing the same strategic goals
