What is a fissure
A painful longitudinal tear in the superficial mucosa at the anal margin. Pain with passing stool is described as passing “shards of glass”. May have bright red blood in the stool.

Hemorrhoids results from increased pressure: with straining at stool, chronic constipation, pregnancy, obesity, or a low fiber diet.
