What is the cause for constipation and diarrhea
Inflammation of the rectum or small bowel
Diarrhea and Dose
Frequent loose/watery stools (25Gy)
Constipation and Dose
Passing fewer stools and having difficulty (25Gy)
Proctitis ad Dose
Inflammation of the rectum lining (25Gy)
Diarrhea Treatment
Low fiber/residue diet, drink lots of water to avoid dehydration and medications such as loperamide
Constipation Treatment
High fiber diet, natural laxatives such as kiwi crush and mediations such as Laxol
Low fiber/residue diet foods
White rice, fish and eggs
High fiber diet foods
Whole grains, uncooked vegetables and whole fruits
Normal white blood cells count range
4 - 11x10^9/L
Normal red blood cell count range
Women = 3.8 - 5x10^12/L
Men = 4.5 - 6.5x10^12/L
Normal platelets cell count range
150 - 440x10^9/L
White blood cell deficiency and occurrence
Leukopenia
First reductions seen after start of RT due to short life span
Red blood cell deficiency and occurrence
Anemia
Doesn’t usually occur due to RT because of long life span but can occur due to chemo
Platelet deficiency and occurrence
Thrombocytopenia
No immediate change due to RT but may occur later
Leukopenia Symptoms
Decreased ability to fight infections and viruses
