Why do we need them and what do they do?

They give us energy

1.complex for long lasting energy (pasta bread)
1.simple that make blood sugar levels go up quickly (found in sugary foods such as cakes jam and sweets)

what do we need it for and what is it?
We need it for growth and repair
It is made up of amino acids
Found in meant, fish, cheese, eggs and soya beans
Fats
What do they do and why do we need them? What are the two types?
They give the body energy and forms and insulating layer under the skin to keep you warm and protect organs
Type 1. Saturated fats found in meant and butter
Type 2. Unsaturated fats found in seeds fish and vegetable oil

For good vision

What is is needed for?
Releasing energy from carbs

Why do we need it?
Along with calcium it helps the body make strong bones and teeth

Eggs and oily fish

What is it needed for
It’s needed to make red blood cells
Without it you may suffer from anaemia
It’s found in red meat and green veg such as spinach

Why do we need it
It is needed for strong bones
A lack of it can lead to osteoporosis
It’s found in milk, tofu, cheese and green veg
Fiber
What does it do and where is it found?
Fiber helps digest food
It’s found in vegetables whole meal food and beans
Water
Where is it found what what does it do?
It helps keep you at the right temperature, it also helps with digestion
It is found in all drinks and lots of fruit and veg
