Complex carbohydrates are digested more slowly and release glucose into the blood stream more gradually. Simple carbohydrates are digested quickly and spike blood sugar faster and higher.

Protein
Complete protein and incomplete protein
Complete protein when it contains all nine essential amino acids that our body can’t produce on its own. If the protein you eat doesn’t have all the nine types of amino acids you need to get from food, it’s called an “incomplete protein.”
Comprises 3/4 of the human body; 8 - 10 glasses a day.

Concentrated source of energy.

Regulator of metabolic processes.
