Extremely low birthweight
Less than 1000 g or 2 lbs. 3 oz.
Full term newborn
An infant born from the first day of the 38th week through 42 weeks
Large for gestational age LGA
A newborn his weight is above the 90th percentile on a growth chart. Between 4000 to 5000 g or more than 9 pounds 
Late preterm, newborn
An infant born between 34 weeks seven days and 36 weeks seven days gestation
Low birthweight LBW
Less than 2500 g or 5.5 pounds.
Post term newborn
More than 42 completed weeks gestation
Preterm newborn
Before 37 completed weeks gestation
Retinopathy of prematurity ROP
Major cause of blindness in pre-term newborns. It is a disease that affects of immature vasculature in the eyes of preterm infants.
Small for gestational age SGA
Describes newborns who typically weigh less than 2500 g are 5 lbs. 8 oz. at term due to less growth in utero than expected. Also if their birthweight is at or below the 10th percentile.
Very low birth weight 
Less than 1500 g are 3 lbs. 5 oz.
