- Reluctant to confide in others, because of unwarranted fear that information will be used against them
- Bears grudges, unforgiving

- needs to be center of attention
- Provacative behavior
- Rapidly shifting expressions/emotions
- Easily influenced by thers
- Sees relationships as more intimate than they really are
Narcissistic Personality Disorder:

Pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, lack of empathy; beginning by early adulthood

- Grandiose sense of self-importance
- Pre-occupied with thoughts of great success, power, brillliance
- Believes they are special and unique; high-status
- Entitled
Avoidant personality disorder:

Social inhibition, feeling of inadequacy, hypersensitive to negative evaluation
Characterized by:
- Avoids activities with interactions d/t fear of criticism, disapproval or reaction
- Unwilling to get involved with people
- Shows restraint in intimate relationships
Dependent personality disorder:
What is it
Characterized by
Excessive need to be taken care of leading to submissive and clinging behavior + fear of separation
Characterized by:
- Difficulty making everyday decision
- Needs others to assume responsibility
- Goes to excessive lengths to obtain nurturance and support from others
What is the main treatment for personality disorders?
Psychotherapy
Such as:
- CBT
- Dialectical behavior therapy
- Supportive therapy
- Psychodynamic psychotherapy
- Social skills training
