Get needle & alcohol pads
Wipe Vial

2nd MAR Check
Pull equal air and inject into vial
Invert, pull medicine and stabilize
3rd MAR Check, put medicine away
Cleanse site with alcohol

Taut skin, BEVEL UP, insert at 5 degrees
Let go of skin, stabilize, inject
Remove gloves, hand hygiene

Subcutaneous Injection

Answer 2

Hand hygiene, don clean gloves
1st MAR Check, take medicine out

-If NPH is settled, roll in hands to re-suspend it
-“Insulin should be at room temperature”
-“Blood glucose should be 70-100 mg/dl, if low, give fast acting carb. Re-check in 15 minutes.”
-“Have patient’s meal tray ready”

Get needle & alcohol pads
Wipe vials
“ I want to let the site dry”
2nd MAR Check

Pull prescribed air, inject into NPH
Pull prescribed air, inject into R, invert R and pull R medicine.
Pull NPH medicine
3rd MAR Check, put medicine away
Cleanse site with alcohol

“90 degrees for large patient, 45 degrees for a thinner patient”
Pinch skin, insert needle, inject, remove needle, let go of pinch

Have patient eat their meal
Remove gloves, hand hygiene

IntraMuscular

Answer 3

Hand hygiene, don clean cloves
1st MAR Check, take medicine out
Get needle & alcohol pads
Clean vials
“Want to let the site dry”

2nd MAR Check
Pull air, inject into vial, invert, pull medicine
3rd MAR Check, put medicine back
Clean site w/ alcohol

Taut skin, insert at 90 degrees, let go of skin, ASPIRATE, inject, remove
Place alcohol pad over site

Remove gloves, hand hygiene
