Nucleic Acid Extraction Methods Flashcards
Buffer
An ionic substance or solution that maintains specific pH.
Immobilized
Bound to a substrate such as nitrocellulose-based membrane or glass slide
RNase Free
RNF. Reagents, consumables, and facilities prepared or treated to protect RNA from RNA digesting proteins.
Intracellular
Inside of the cell
Microfuge
A small centrifuge designed to accommodate.2-2.0ml tubes.
Silver stain
A sensitive staining system for nucleic acids and proteins after gel electrophoresis.
Absorpitivity Constants
The characteristic tendency of a substance to absorb light at a given wavelength, used in quantifying nucleic acids, the absorpitivity constants of DNA and RNA are (50ug/ml)/absorbance unit and (40ug/ml)/absorbance unit, respectively, at 260nm wavelength.
