NPS-imaging studies Flashcards
What is optinum placement of ETT in an infant with uncuffed ETT
Mid-trachea between T2 - T4
Your pt is intubated with an uncuffed ETT and has new onset cyanosis, irritability, and decreased sp02 with a negative transillumination ( PTX)…. what could this mean?
right mainstem intubation or inadvertent extubation…self extubation…. make sure to listen to breath sounds
where should the ETT be positioned for a child with a cuffed ETT ?
ETT should be positioned below the vocal cords, in mid-trachea, and approx. 1-2 cm or .5 -1 in above the carina
How do you quickly detect that ETT is in the correct position?
observation, auscultation, and detection of exhaled C02
Where should chest tubes be placed?
in the pleural space surrounding the lung
Where should a umbilical artery catheter be placed?
above the aortic bifurcation @ the level of L3-L4 (low position) or high position above the diaphragm at T6-T8 or T9
In a CXR the right hemidiaphragm is slightly higher than the left… what does this indicate?
a normal CXR
