Note Flashcards - Dog Welfare and Behaviour - Transport
Dog Welfare and Behaviour - Transport:
Note #1
An increased variety of walks is available when you transport dogs in a vehicle and it keeps the dogs interested.
Dog Welfare and Behaviour - Transport:
Note #2
Disease can be spread via vehicle transportation as vehicles are a source of infection. All equipment should be washable and should be cleaned and disinfected quite often. This will reduce the chance of spreading any infection or disease that may be present.
Dog Welfare and Behaviour - Transport:
Note #3
Vehicles can become dangerous for dogs because the interior can heat up quite quickly, especially in the summer. This can cause dehydration, heat stroke and even death. Vehicles should have good ventilation and temperature control for transporting dogs and water for the dogs should always be available.
Dog Welfare and Behaviour - Transport:
Note #4
When the walker is transporting more than one dog at the same time, they should make sure that no dog is at risk of injury and safeguard the welfare of each dog.
Dog Welfare and Behaviour - Transport:
Note #5
Other than for short time periods, e.g. Collecting or dropping off, dogs should not be left unattended in a vehicle. When they are left unattended, the vehicle should be locked.
