Why is there a North-South divide?
A
The de-industrialisation of the north (in the ’70s the removal of many industries e.g steel-making).
Whereas in the South, London is a major global financial centre which has improved quality of life in the South.

- Since 2011, 24 new zones encourage new businesses and new jobs in areas:
- Simple planning regulations speed up the
establishment of new business - Ensuring superfast broadband
- Financial allowances for business
