Normal Gait Flashcards
1
Q
Name the 3 functions of normal gait
A
- Forward progression
- body balance and limp length adjustment
- upper body support
2
Q
What are the 2 cycles of normal gait
A
Stance phase and swing phase
3
Q
What is measured during gait cycle
A
#Stride length- distance from the one foot touches the floor and again when the same foot touches # Step length is equal to a gait cycle
4
Q
What are the pre requisites for normal gait ?
A
- Stability in stance
- clearance of foot in swing
- preposition of foot in swing
- Adequate step length
- energy conservation
5
Q
Explain 5 abnormal gait
A
1 short leg= pelvis tilts down ward a the same side as short limb.
② painful= characteristic of antalgio limb is shortened stance phase on affected side thus thus shorter step length
③ trendelenburg = allows apposite side of pelvis to tilt downward during stance on weakend side
④ neuromuscular = weak spastic
⑤ stiff joint.
