normal distribution
A
- data will produce a symmetrical bell-shaped curve when plotted
- most scores are close to the mean, with fewer being at the extreme ends of the distribution
- the median and mode occupy the same centre point of the curve as the mean

skewed distribution
A
positively skewed = most scores fall below the mean (the graph is highest on the left)
negatively skewed = most scores fall before the mean (the graph is highest on the right)
- in both cases, the mode is the highest point on the graph
