- Listeria monocytogenes
- Escherichia coli
- Group B Streptococcus. (Streptococcus agalactiae)

In young children:
Neisseria meningitidis
Haemophilus influenzae</p>

What is EMB agar used for?

A

Eosin methylene blue agar (EMB) is a selective and differential medium used to isolate fecal coliforms. Eosin Y and methylene blue are pH indicator dyes which combine to form a dark purple precipitate at low pH; they also serve to inhibit the growth of most Gram positive organisms

What causes atypical pneumonia

A

Mycoplasma pneumoniae
Legionella pneumophila
Chylamydophila
Viruses

It is claimed to have more of a dry cough, and different radiological imaging characteristics, and just be generally slightly less severe than normal pneumonia, and is also called ‘walking pneumonia’

This has mostly been shown untrue, but still sometimes used terms.
