NON-PRECISION APPROACH Flashcards
What types of approaches are considered non-precision approaches?
LOC, VOR, GPS (GNSS), and RNAV approaches.
How are non-precision approaches flown?
Using a constant angle descent.
What is the descent rate for a non-precision approach when there is no conversion table?
700-800 FPM.
What is the rule of thumb for step-downs inside the FAF on a 3° glidepath?
Be at least 300 ft above any step-down altitude 1 nm from it.
How is the Derived Minimum Descent Altitude (DMDA) calculated?
By adding 50 ft to the MDA.
What should be done during a missed approach on a non-precision approach?
Continue to navigate via the lateral approach course until reaching the published MAP.
When conducting a circling maneuver, what should be set in the altitude preselect?
The MDA instead of the missed approach altitude.
- When GPS is required for navigation, verify the following messages are not displayed:
– “NO GPS RAIM”
– “GPS NOT AVAILABLE”
