Non Normals Flashcards
What do we do in the aviate aspect during a non normal?
Safely fly the aircraft and re engage automatics
What 3 non normals have recall items?
Engine fire, severe damage or separation
What is the sequence of events in an engine fire?
PM: engine malfunction
PF stabilises A/C then calls for PM to confirm the failure
Pm: engine fire no.1
PF: A/T off and actions
PM: check
PF: points to thrust lever and states no.1 thrust lever confirm?
PM: confirm- signals PF to close the lever
PM: points to start lever and states no.1 start lever confirm?
PF: confirm- signals PM to close the lever and respond cut off
PM: points to engine fire switch and states engine fire switch no.1 confirm?
PF: confirm- signals PM to pull the fire switch
If still illuminated after switch is pulled fire bottles as required (wait at least 30 seconds between shots)
What recall items will be called for if engine fire, severe damage or separation is suspected?
Engine fire checklist. Memory items completed before aircraft is accelerated. Once flaps are up, clean speed is achieved, MCT set and AP engaged, PF will then call for engine fire QRH checklist. This is followed by the after takeoff checklist
What will the PF call if an engine failure is diagnosed?
Engine failure no.1 no abnormal indications, no recall items required.
No actions are taken until flaps are up, flying st clean speed with MCT set and AP engaged
When appropriate the engine failure no.1 QRH checklist is called for by the PF followed by the normal after takeoff checklist
When would we make an emergency descent?
- cabin altitude cannot be controlled above 14000 ft
- a rapid descent is needed
What are the emergency descent memory items?
- Announce emergency descent
- Pax signs on
- Descend to MSA or 10,000ft
- Engine start switches to continuous
- Thrust levers to idle or as required for anti-ice
- Speed brake flight detent
- Set mmo/vmo
What are the APU fire recall items?

APU switch- off
