Multinucleated cells with intra-nuclear inclusion

A woman with this endometrial finding is at increased risk of:
Osteoporosis/hip fracture
(Atrophic endometrium = postmenopausal = decreased estrogen)
Dx?
Simple endometrial hyperplasia
(Glandular crowding + irregularly shaped glands)
Risk factors for this type of infection?
DM, pregnancy, OCP
(Candidiasis - note curdy white appearance)
How would infection with these organisms present in a female?
Heavy, foamy vaginal discharge
Itchy
Cervicovaginitis
(Trichomoniasis)
Which hormone is elevated in the patient from which this tissue was biopsied?
Estrogen
(Straight glands - proliferative phase)
Dx?
Simple atypical hyperplasia
(Nuclear atypica + good amount of stroma)
A pregnant patient presents with vaginal itching and a white discharge. What might you expect to see on PE?
Curdled, white discharge with a white mucosal surface
(Pregnancy predisposes to Candidiasis, which will be itchy with a white discharge)
What event preceded this phase of endometrial growth?
Ovulation
(Cysts in cytoplasm of simple epithelial cells lining glands = early secretory phase)
If a biopsy of the endometrium was taken 2 days before menses, how would the endometrium look?
Tortuous, dilated glands, spiral arteries
Dx?
Complex atypical endometrial hyperplasia
(Notice almost all glands without stroma)
