Non-ferrous alloys Flashcards
1
Q
Bronze
A
Tough, corrosion resistant, can be cast
90 per cent copper, 10 per cent tin
Melting temp - 850 to 1000°C
2
Q
Brass
A
Corrosion resistant, good electrical and thermal conductor, low melting point, casts well
65 per cent copper, 35 per cent zinc
Melting temp - 930°C
3
Q
Duralumin
A
Equivalent strength to LCS but more lightweight, ductile, becomes harder as worked
4 per cent copper, 1 per cent magnesium and manganese
4
Q
Pewter
A
Malleable, low melting point, casts well
85-99p per cent tin with any left over consisting of copper and antimony
Melting temp - 170 to 230°C
