Non associative and associative memory II (4/12) Flashcards
1
Q
Do lesions in the striatum disrupt procedural memory or declarative memory?
A
Procedural memory
2
Q
What is the outcome in mice when you modify the radial arm maze and while there is damage to the striatum?
A
- Impaired performance of modifed task
3
Q
What is the ‘Weather control task’?
A
- People with dementia able to perform task quite well
- Parkinson’s patients w/ damage in striatum couldn’t perform task still had declarative memory)
- Amnestic patients able to perform task with no memory of doing it
4
Q
Which part of the striatum can an engram move to?
A
Dorsolateral striatum
5
Q
What is non-asssociative implicit learning?
A
- Learning doesn’t require association
- Get a long term change in response to stimulus e.g. Aplysiacalifornica (info in another lecture of its gill siphon retraction)
6
Q
How does habituation occur in the Aplysia Californica?
A
- Touch its gill many times, it will stop responding as in stop the retraction of its gill and siphon
- Can reinstate response with a mild foot shock
