. The Tsar promised to uphold Russia's Autocratic ways and he refused the Zemstva's calls for reform. He continued the policy's of his father.
. The army was increasing called upon to put down strikes and rebellions. 
. Lower class students were excluded from schools and secondary education was abolished. This was intended to stop the spread of radical ideas.

Overall how effectively did Nicholas deal with opposition?

. Nicholas dealt with internal opposition very well as he was able to maintain an Autocratic regime even though he was faced with a lot of opposition which had the ability to remove him from power.
