1 palm crease, low set ears
telangiectasis
“stork bites” - normal
lanugo
hairs on back, ears, shoulder - common in prematures
vernix
after delivery, cheese like substance on baby
Mongolian spots
bluish dark gray spot in butt - normal
acrocyanosis
bluish extremities - normal until 24 hours
milia
baby pimples/white spots - normal
mottling
usually in preemies, normal for them
caput
inflammation that crosses sutures - normal
molding
pointed head - normal, goes away a few days after birth
ankyloglossia
tongue tie - causes poor latch
cleft palate
feeding issues, pigeon nipple or NG until old enough for surgery
cephalohematoma
does NOT cross suture lines like caput
sacral dimple
can indicate spina bifida, get spinal ultrasound
epispadias
urethra above tip of penis
