Phytonadione / synthetic Vitamin K (Aqua Mephyton)
A
- Vitamin K₁, fat-soluble vitamin
- Prevention of bleeding
- Brain damage (large doses); hemolytic anemia, hemoglobinuria, hyperbilirubinemia
- Monitor protime: bleeding, P, BP; assess nutritional status
- Give IV after diluting with D₅NS 10 mL or more; give 1 mg/min or more; IV only when other routes not possible

- Antiinfective
- Dysrhythmias; n/v, diarrhea, hepatotoxicity; vaginitis, moniliasis; anaphylaxis
- Assess for allergic reaction; infection; C&S test results before beginning therapy; urine output; blood studies; electrolytes: potassium, sodium, chloride; bowel pattern

Beractant (Survanta)
A
- A sterile, non-pyrogenic pulmonary surfactant intended for intratracheal use only
- Pale skin; slow heartbeat; breathing that stops; urinating less than usual; or blood in the urine
- Indicated for prevention and treatment (“rescue”) of Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS) (hyaline membrane disease) in premature infants; significantly reduces the incidence of RDS, mortality due to RDS and air leak complications
