GRAMMAR SCHOOLS
AO1 - loss of grammar schools, selection = good for students
AO2 - chubb and moe - poor kids in priv schools achieved better than state
AO3 - bad schools cant attract high achieving students
MARKETISATION
AO1 - schools competing like businesses + known for introducing league tables (gcse)
AO2 - gillborn - school competition = ethnic minority and wc attended poorly funded schools
AO3 - increased educational inequality
MERITOCRACY
AO1 - failure due to low aspirations/no motivation
AO2 - bartlett - poorer schools have more students with bad behaviour/attitudes etc
AO3 - school discipline worse as can no longer be physical (hit)
PARENTOCRACY
AO1 - parents have choice to what school their kid goes to
AO2 - smith - poor parents cannot choose as cannot afford good schools
AO3 - recognises social division + inquality
