AO1 - education socialises to shared values in society
AO2 - durkheim - education = positive functions e.g. social solidarity = cultural reproduction (music, history, lit) + social cohesion (house systems, sports) = mini society

A

AO1 - education = bridge between home and society (secondary socialisation)
AO2 - parsons - particularistic to univeralistic values
+ ascribed status (son/daughter) to achieved status = meritocracy (judged based on ability instead of born into)
achieved by hidden curriculum (hierarchy, uniform, rewards) + assessments (comp + meritocracy) (unis and jobs accept based on qual)
❌AO3 - marxism = hidden curriculum preps for exploitation + capatilism

ROLE ALLOCATION

A

AO1 - society needs skilled + qualified workforce = rewarded with high wages + work conditions
AO2 - davis and moore = education allocates/preps based on ability + into appropriate careers (meritocracy)
+ school = promote social mobility through hard work
❌AO3 - feminists = girls earn less even if work hard (gender pay gap)

TEACHING SKILLS

A

AO1 - important function of education = teaching skills for wider society
AO2 - durkheim - taught through core knowledge (national curriculum) + specialist knowledge (a levles)
❌AO3 - feminists - girls discouraged from certain subjects (stem)
❌AO3 - marxists - over qualified students = competition = lower wages as workers become more obedient for their role
