Forestry
Settlement
The New Forest National Pork is the most densely populated national park, home to about 34,000 people. Sway, Brockenhurst, and Lyndhurst are the only three towns in the Park with a population of three thousand or more. To protect the ecology, the New Forest Notional Park Authority imposes building restrictions. There are signifkant income dis porities.
Agriculture
60% of it is used for farming and 3% of farms are more than 100 hectares. Pigs, chickens, lembs, fruit, veg, and flower stock are all produced by farmers.
Throughout the summer, livestock are free to graze the heathland. Well drained soils are idea for growing crops. 5% of the population works in agriculture.
Forestry
Mast trees are planted for forestry but there are also old beech and oak woodlands that are protected as national parks. Considerable historical deforestation occurred to build naval ships. Harvested for commercial use in enclosed areas. The Forestry Commission issues permits for and finances the planting of trees
