Neuropsychology pt2 Flashcards
What are the three main parts of the brain?
The three main parts of the brain are the cerebrum, cerebellum, and brainstem.
What is the cerebrum?
The cerebrum is the largest part of the brain and is responsible for conscious thought, sensory perception, and voluntary movement. It is divided into two hemispheres: the left hemisphere and the right hemisphere
What is the cerebellum?
The cerebellum is located at the back of the brain and is responsible for coordinating movement, maintaining balance, and controlling posture.
What is the brainstem
The brainstem connects the brain to the spinal cord and controls vital functions such as breathing, heart rate, and blood pressure.
What are the lobes of the brain
The lobes of the brain are the frontal lobe, parietal lobe, occipital lobe, and temporal lobe.
What is the frontal lobe?
The frontal lobe is located at the front of the brain and is responsible for executive functions such as decision-making, planning, and problem-solving. It also plays a role in personality and social behavior.
What is the parietal lobe?
The parietal lobe is located at the top and back of the brain and is responsible for processing sensory information such as touch, pressure, temperature, and pain.
What is the occipital lobe
The occipital lobe is located at the back of the brain and is responsible for processing visual information.
What is the temporal lobe
The temporal lobe is located on the side of the brain and is responsible for processing auditory information and language.
What is the limbic system?
The limbic system is a group of structures in the brain that play a role in emotion, memory, and motivation. It includes the amygdala, hippocampus, thalamus, hypothalamus, and basal ganglia.
