what are neuropathic ulcers?
A
- result of peripheral neuropathy
2. repetitive stress and unoticed injuries which result in painless ulcers forming on the pressure points on the limbs

- diabetes

where do ulcers present?
A
- pressure points,
- heel, head of the first 1st and 5th metatarsal

clinical features of neuropathic ulcers?
A
- punched out appearance
- deep
- peripheral neuropathy - absent sensation
- painless

Ix
A
- blood glucose levels
- B12 levels
- swabs / ABPI if co existing arterial disease

Mx
A
- Diabetic control optimied / diet and exercise

what is charcot’s foot
A
- neuroarthropathy
- loss of joint sensation results in continual unnoticed trauma and deformity occurring e.g. multiple fractures etc
- swelling, distorted, painless joint
