neuronal Nicotinic agonists Flashcards
1
Q
What does nicotine do?
A
This acts both centrally and peripherally on the Ach receptors.
SC: Nicotine toxicity results in initial excitation, but the receptors will become desensitized and then you will see a depressed state.
2
Q
What does Acetylcholine do?
A
Ach is an endogenous transmitter that acts on nicotinic and muscarinic receptors.
SC: Due to the overlap on the PNS and SNS, it is not used therapeutically
