Sx of Lateral Medullary Syndrome?
Vertical nystagmus, nausea/ vertigo, one sided sensory defects - to temp and hiccups
Sx of right MCA stroke?
This is non-dominant hemisphere: left hemiparesis, sensory loss, homonymous hemianopia, dysarthria, neglect left side, stroke denial, loss of intonation do speech, flat affect

Global aphasia occurs with what sided stroke?
Left sided, global aphasia refers to inability to speak at all. Both Broca and Wernicke’s area are effected
Damage to Wernicke’s area leads to what kind of aphasia?
Receptive aphasia - struggles to grasp words and meanings of sentences, impaired reading and writing, may speak nonsense.
Damage to Broca’s area leads to what kind of aphasia?
Expressive aphasia - will have effortful speech but will struggle, will understand when being spoken to but trouble replying

What can you measure with fluid from an LP?
Cultures, gram stain, cytology, cell count, chemistry, transudate/ exudate

Hypertension, Bradycardia, Decreased respiration’s
