Regulates motivation, stress, emotion, and learning
Hippocampus
Regulates appetite, sensations of hunger/thirst, water balance, circadian rhythms, body temperature, libido, satiety, and hormonal regulation
Hypothalamus
Responsible for mediating mood, emotional memories, fear, anxiety, anger, emotion, and agression
Amygdala
Responsible for receptive lanaguage
Temporal lobe
Responsible for text, reading, and writing
Parietal lobe

Serotonin
What is stereognosis?
Tests the patient’s ability to identify a familiar object by touch
What is graphesthesia?
With the blunt end of a reflex hammer or applicator, draw a number or shape on the palm of the patient’s hand. Patient should be able to identify the shape or number drawn in hand
Controls arousal

Right hemisphere
Logical thinking, processes logical information
Left hemisphere
Cognitive functions, decision making, empathy, impulse control
Anterior Cingulate
Assess cerebellum function
Romberg test
