Neuroanatomy 4 Flashcards
what do we find in the retrolenticular region
this is the region caudal to the lentiform nucleus and it carriers the optic radiation from the lateral geniculate nucleus of the thalamus to the visual cortex
what do we have in the sublenticular region
this is where we have fibres run from the medial geniculate nucleus to the primary auditory cortex - which is on the transverse temporal gyri if you remember
whats the blood supply to the internal capsule anterior limb
MCA and ACA
whats the blood supply to the genu of the internal capsule
ACA, MCA and ICA
whats the blood supply to the posterior limb of the internal capsule
ICA - anterior choroidal artery and the MCA
whats the blood supply to the retrolenticular region and the sublenticular region
ICA - anterior choroidal artery and the PCA
what are our association fibres in the brain
superior longitudinal fasciculus, uncinate fasciculus and the arcutate fasciculus
what is the corona radiata
The corona radiata is a large white matter sheet in the brain, essentially a fan-shaped collection of ascending and descending axonal bundles, that connects the cerebral cortex with the thalamus, brainstem, and spinal cord.
where does the corona radiata travel through
through the thalamus
what connects the brocas and wernickes area
the arcuate fasciculus
what does the superior longitudinal fasciculus connect
the frontal, partietal, occipital and temporal lobes
what four structures are involved in the limbic system
the hippocampus, hypothalamus and the fornix, amygdala
where do we find the hippocampus in relation to the ventricular systems
on the floor of the inferior horn of the lateral ventricle
