What is an amuaratic pupil
Complete optic nerve lesion in one eye
When you shine light into the affected eye - no response.
But will have light response to in both eyes when shone in the unaffected eye
What can you see in argyll robertson pupil
Accom refelx present, pupil refelx absent
Small irrgeular pupils
due to neurosyphhilis
What about Adie’s pupil
Large regular pupil
Responds slowly to near refelx
Usually follows viral illness
How to test for Horner’s
Cocaine in the eyes
What are the subdisions of the optic nerve
Intraocular
Intra orbital
Intra canalicualr - have the annulas os sin
Intracranial
what medication can cause raised ICP and headache
Tetracycline
What can you use to treat raised ICP
IV acetozolamide
How does CN 3 palsy present
Profound ptosis due to lev palpabrae muscle not working
Outward and downward looking eye
Cannot adduct affected eye
Weakened depression
Weak upward gaze
Can look laterally
How does CN 6 palsy present
Medial looking eye
Failed abduction
Normal adduction
What is this palsy usually associated with
Acoustic neruoma
Raied ICP
Nasophayng tumours
Basal skill fracture
How does CN 4 palsy present?
Upward and slighyly outward deviated eye
Worse on adduction
Limitation of depression in adduction
Which way will the head tilt
In the opposite direction of the lesion
How does CN 7 present
Cannot close lips completely, cannot raise eyebrows, will have ectropion, droopy mouth, dry eyes and exposure keratitis
