A
Left eye, left hand
Move finger in slowly - all 4 corners of visual fields
Equidistant between you and patient

Pupillary Reflexes
A
Inspect pupil size and shape Concentrate on spot on wall Warn of light in eye Check for direct and consensual responses Swinging light test for RAPD

Fundoscopy
A
Darkened room
Red reflex
Examine disc for cup, colour and contour.

Eye Movement
A
Follow finger with eyes but keep head still
Double vision/pain
Observe for nystagmus or opthalmoplegia

Facial Nerve
A
Raise eyebrows Close eyes tightly Don’t let me open them Keep lips tightly shut Don’t let me open them Show me your teeth

Pharynx
A
Use the tongue depressor
Inspect palate and uvula
Does it deviate to one side?
Say aagh, palate and uvula should move upwards

Tongue
A
Look for fasciculation and wasting
Sick tongue out and look or deviation
Ask patient to wiggle tongue from side to side

Limbs
A
Wasting Fasciculation Tremor Myoclonic jerks Deformity and posture Pronates drift

Tone
A
Flex and extend wrist and elbow
Roll leg from side to side
