What are the original top level domain names?

Define Start of Authority (SOA)
defines primary name sever in charge of a domain. Also includes parameters that control how secondary name servers check for updates to the zone file such as the serial number which indicates whether the zone file has updates to fetch.
Define an Address (A) record
DNS record that maps host names to their ivp4 addresses
Define an AAAA record
DNS record that maps host names to their ivp6 addresses
What is the difference between forward and reverse lookup zones?
Forward look up is using the FQDN to determine the IP address
Reverse is using the IP address to look up the FQDN
Define Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN)
Complete dns name of the system from its hostname to its top level domain name
ex: https//en.wikipedia.org
Define DNS caching
Feature of DNS servers that temporarily stores information about previous dns lookups to speedup future requests.
Define Forward Lookup Zone
File that stores the dns records on a windows server
Define DNS Name Server (NS) records
records that list the authoritative dns servers for a domain
Define Canonical name Record (CNAME)
DNS record that stores a fully qualified domain name, a common use is to provide an alias for another host name
Define Pointer Record (PTR)
A type of DNS record that points ip address to host names aka reverse look up zone
Define Mail Exchange Record (MX)
DNS record that SMTP servers use to determine where to send mail for a given domain
Define Service record (SRV)
DNS Record that associates servers for individual protocols with a domain, specify a host, port, protocol, and other details for specific service
Define Text record (TXT)
Freeform type of DNS record that holds a text value, most commonly used for SPF DKIM and DMARC
The TXT record lets a domain admin leave notes on a DNS server.
