Q

Features of a twisted pair cable?

A
  • Made up of a pair of insulated copper wires
  • Can be affected by external magnetic fields
  • provides low bandwidth
  • Cheap
  • Used for telephone networks, data networks and cable shielding

Q

Features of a coaxial cable?

A
  • Made up of a conducting wire, a layer of insulation, a grounding conductor and a layer of exterior insulation
  • less affected by magnetic interference then twisted pair
  • Moderate bandwidth, more expensive than twisted pair only
  • used for radio connections, cable TV, computer network connections and digital audio
