Computer Network

Personal Area Networks (PANs)

Local Area Networks (LANs)
connect devices within a city or metropolitan area.
Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs)
connect devices over a large geographic area, such as a country or continent.
Wide Area Networks (WANs)
are used to distinguish between different Wi-Fi networks, and they are also used by devices to connect to the correct network.
SSIDs
a type of software that is embedded in a piece of hardware.
Firmware
It is responsible for initializing the computer’s hardware and loading the operating system.
BIOS/UEFI
a small piece of firmware that is responsible for loading the
operating system on a computer or mobile device.
Bootloader
firmware that allows the operating system to communicate with specific hardware devices, such as printers, scanners, and network cards.
Device driver
responsible for controlling the functions of a router, such as routing traffic between devices on a network and providing security features.
Router firmware
responsible for controlling the printing process and allowing the printer to communicate with the computer.
Printer firmware
responsible for controlling the microwave’s functions, such as cooking time and power level.
