Nervous Tissue Flashcards
These tissues are specialized to accept and transmit impulses.
Reception and condition of impulses
Nervous tissue
These are impulse-conducting cells, and the unit of structure which contains several specialized functions.
Neurons
These are nervous cells involved with protection, support and nourishment
Neuroglia
These convey impulses TOWARD the cell body.
Dendrites
These convey impulses AWAY from the cell body
Axons
These are bundles of fascicles of nerve fibers
Nerve
This is responsible for joining the nerve fibers, and is a connective tissue
It is the outermost layer surrounding a peripheral nerve
Epineurium
A protective and connective sheath that surrounds a nerve fascicle.
They enclose the nerve bundles or fascicles
Perineurium
These are the smaller structures of nerve bundles or fascicles
Nerve fibers
This is the inward extension of the perineurium
Endoneurium
