A
- drug class: h1 receptor antagonist - anti emetic
- common indications: motion sickness, morning sickness
- mechanism of action: blocks h1 receptor so histamine can’t bind in the vestibular cochlea in the ear so no signals reach CTZ so no vomiting sensation
- common side effects: abdo pain, gi effects etc
- uncommon side effects:
- drug-drug interactions: cns depressant effects with many drugs
- contra-indications: children and little old ladies

metoclopramide
A
- drug class: d2 antagonist - anti emetic
- common indications: GORD, ileus
- mechanism of action: works centrally in ctz and inhibits d2 therefore no vomiting. also works peripherally and increases ach at muscarinic receptors - pro kinetic
- common side effects:galacttorrhoea, dystonia, parkinsonism
