celecoxib

A
  • drug class: NSAID - COX inhibitor
  • common indications:
  • mechanism of action: inhibit cox 2 therefore, antipyretic(decreased cytokines induced prostaglandin synthesis) , analgesic (low PGE) and anti - inflammatory (decreased PGs)
  • common side effects: BPH, dysphagia
  • uncommon side effects: anxiety, chest pain
  • drug-drug interactions: aspirin, ACEi
  • contra-indications: heart disease, previous cardiovascular event, PUD

** increase risk of MI in everyone **
